Health Commissioner
The duties of the Health Commissioner are varied,
but her main responsibility is overseeing the day to day operations
of the health department. Other areas that she is responsible for include:
Shall be the executive officer of the Board of Health and shall carry out all orders of the Board and of the Department of Health. He/she shall be charged with the enforcement of all sanitary laws and regulations in the Massillon City Health District or contracted area. He/she shall keep the public informed in regard to all matters affecting the health of the district. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS Shall fully coordinate the local programs with local, state, regional, Federal and private agencies concerned with public health. EXAMPLES OF WORK As the Executive Officer and Secretary of the Board of Health he/she shall carry out all orders of the Board and of the Department of Health. He/she shall direct the enforcement of all sanitary laws and regulations in the district. Plans, develops and directs all programs in the Health Department including Environmental Health, Laboratory, Nursing, W.I.C. (Womens, Infants & Children), and Vital Statistics. Coordinates local programs with local, state, regional, Federal and private agencies and organizations concerned with Public Health. Represents the Health Department at all negotiations, meetings and seminars as required in Ohio Revised Code and Public Health Standards.
