Mission Statement

The goal of the Massillon Building department is to provide the citizens of the City of Massillon with the best customer service possible. Whether assisting residents, design professionals, building owners, landlords, or tenants, we believe everyone deserves individual attention. We welcome your questions, thoughts, and comments.

The City of Massillon Building Department regulates the construction, demolition, and occupancy of buildings and structures within the Massillon City jurisdiction, in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents. Specifically, we review, approve, and issue all permits required by the State of Ohio, regarding the new construction, repair, alteration, or addition to all public and private buildings and structures, as well as annually register all construction contractors; including general building trades, home improvement, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
